2020 NBA Free Agency: 4 Surprising Players Still Available

  1. Kyle O’Quinn (Defensive Big) — Very surprised to see O’Quinn has not been picked up yet. What he lacks in athleticism he makes up for with physicality. He’s widely regarded (and I can confirm) as a great teammate, works hard, an underrated passer, and defensively his takes great pride in being a vocal leader. He’s one of the few very versatile free agents left on the market in the fact that he can be a good leader/role model on a rebuild or he can be an insurance big that will stay ready for any opportunity on a playoff team.
  2. Dewayne Dedmon (Stretch 5)— After being waived with that bad contract washed away I’d be taking a very close look at Dedmon. His perception around the league soured quite a bit but I feel a lot of that had to do with the expectations surrounding his yearly earnings. He’s a very serviceable big that can also stretch the floor out to the 3-point line. If he’s willing to accept something close to the minimum there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to find a role somewhere.
  3. Michael Beasley (Scoring Punch) — I’m not exactly sure what transpired last year with Beasley having signed with the Nets for bubble play yet he ended up not ever playing, but despite all that Beasley would be a great player for a fringe playoff hopeful team. Let’s just face the facts, he’s an instant 20 point a night player. The rewards outweigh the risks especially in the given situation where players might become unavailable due to Covid exposures. If one of your star players has still sit out, Beasley can easily be plugged in and give you an easy 20. There’s literally no other player still out there quite like that.
  4. Jordan McRae (Scoring Punch) — Outside of Beasley, McRae would be far and beyond my clear cut 2nd choice if I’m need of a scoring threat off my bench this late into free agency. McRae can flat out fill it up and provide a much needed boost when called upon which he proved last season with the Wizards. In a year with so many unknowns to who may be affected by a covid exposure, I find it crazy nobody has pounced on his services for a minimum deal.
